2011/12 – Worst Season for Pep Guardiola's Era

barcelonaBarcelona’s goal collection for the 20 first match in La liga this season has been the worst achievement for the last 4 years. The point of 45 in the standings is the lowest score since the Guardiola’s era.

The team has failed the expectation to create more goals to at least match last season’s goal record. This season (20 matchday), Barca already left the score board blank 3 times  -  Against Sevilla with goalless draw, 1-0 to Getafe, and the latest was another goalless draw over Villarreal.

Take a look of the comparation with the 3 previous  season.

In season 2008/09, in the first 20 matches, Barca only failed to score a goal in the first week, when Numancia defeated Barcelona with 1-0. And for the rest of 35 games, Barca has always scored. They only slipped later at week 37th, when they got defeated by Osasuna with 0-1.

For season 2009/10, only onced Barcelona made a goalless draw in the first 20 games, which was against Valencia. In total, Barca only failed twice to fill the score board. The other goalless draw was against Espanyol on week 33rd.

On season 2010/11, there were also 2 goalless match. Against Hercules at Camp Nou with a shocking result of 0-2, and the second was against Deportivo la Coruna, with a goalless draw.

Now it’s the fourth season for Pep Guardiola’s era. The players might have lost their ambition after winning the Spanish League title for 3 years  in a row. This situation could be an advantage for Real Madrid, to finally step in and win the league title after 4 years.
